New van road tax system in the offing

17 / May / 2018

Reports say the UK government intends to introduce a new road tax system for commercial vehicles. This is to encourage drivers to choose more low emission vehicles.

Only 0.4% of commercials currently on the road are classed as Ultra Low Emission Vehicles (ULEVs). This Means they emit 75g/km or less of CO2.

The government wants to increase this and are set to offer incentives to go greener. It looks likely that the flat rate of £250 a year for commercial road tax will soon be abolished. It’s likely this will be replaced with a similar system that is in use for cars.
